The short version: itsnotyou is a free tool that gives you a best-effort read on whether a slowdown is your connection or a website. Use it sensibly, don't try to abuse or overload it, and understand that the results are informational — not a guarantee. We're not liable if a measurement is off, and we're not affiliated with the sites we test.
These terms govern your use of itsnotyou.site ("the site", "we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the site. They sit alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle data.
What the service is
itsnotyou is a free, informational utility. It measures your connection from your browser and a website's response time from a neutral server, and publishes live status pages for a selection of popular services. It's provided to help you tell "is it me or the site?" — nothing more. It is not a professional network-diagnostics, uptime-guarantee, or monitoring service, and you should not rely on it for decisions where accuracy is critical.
Acceptable use
You may use the site for your own, ordinary purposes. You agree not to:
- Use automated scripts to hammer the test, the probe, or the API beyond normal human use, or to circumvent rate limits.
- Use the site to attack, scan, overload, or otherwise target any third-party website or service.
- Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content or data wholesale.
- Interfere with the site's normal operation or security, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it.
- Use the site in any way that is unlawful or infringes someone else's rights.
We may rate-limit, block, or remove access to protect the service, and we may add, change, or retire monitored sites and features at any time.
Accuracy and no warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Measurements are estimates taken at a moment in time and can legitimately differ from your own experience — a status shown here can be wrong, delayed, or unavailable. We don't warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate. Any reliance you place on it is at your own risk.
Third-party sites and trademarks
itsnotyou is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the websites or services it tests or monitors. Product names, logos, and brands are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the services being checked; their use does not imply any endorsement. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience, and we're not responsible for their content or availability.
Advertising and affiliate links
The site is supported by advertising and, in places, affiliate links — where we may earn a commission if you buy something through a link, at no extra cost to you. Where that applies, it's disclosed on the page. Advertising is handled as described in our privacy policy.
Our content
The site's design, text, and original content are ours and are protected by intellectual-property law. You may link to the site and share results, but you may not copy or reproduce substantial parts of it without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the site, or from reliance on any measurement or status it shows. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
