Common reasons Epic Games looks down when it isn't

What to check before blaming Epic Games

  1. Launch a game you already own offline-capable — if it starts, Epic's game services are largely up.
  2. Open the store in a browser rather than the launcher; the launcher caches failures.
  3. Check Epic's own status page before assuming a wide outage.
  4. Restart the launcher as administrator if downloads stall at 0%.

Epic Games status — frequently asked

Is Epic Games down right now?

Epic Games is up and responding in 33 ms. That reading is from itsnotyou's monitoring servers, 2 minutes ago.

Is it Epic Games that's down, or is it my internet connection?

It can be either — that's the hard part. The status on this page is measured from itsnotyou's monitoring servers, so Epic Games can look healthy here while your own connection is the real problem. The itsnotyou test checks both at once and returns a single verdict in about 10 seconds.

Why is Epic Games loading slowly?

A slow Epic Games usually comes down to one of two things: Epic Games's own servers are responding slowly — itsnotyou measures time to first byte, and anything over 1500 ms is flagged as slow — or your local connection is the bottleneck. Running the test tells the two apart.

How often is Epic Games's status checked?

Epic Games is probed every few minutes, around the clock, from itsnotyou's monitoring servers. The verdict and the 24-hour response-time history on this page update automatically.
